Job Summary:
The Mail Clerk is responsible for receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and packages for the college community. This role ensures the accurate and timely handling of correspondence, deliveries, and shipments while providing excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
Hours: Monday- Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail, interoffice correspondence, and packages to appropriate departments or individuals.
Prepare and process outgoing mail, including USPS, FedEx, UPS, and other carriers.
Maintain accurate records of registered, certified, and insured mail, as well as package deliveries.
Operate postage meters, scanners, and other mailroom equipment.
Assist students, faculty, and staff with inquiries regarding mail and package delivery.
Ensure proper handling of confidential and sensitive materials.
Keep mailroom organized, clean, and compliant with safety standards.
Track and manage mail supplies, such as envelopes, shipping labels, and postage.
Report delivery issues or concerns to supervisor.
Provide support for bulk mailings, special events, and campus communications.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous mailroom, clerical, or customer service experience preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lift and carry packages up to [X lbs, e.g., 50 lbs].
Basic computer skills and familiarity with tracking systems.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
Mailroom and office setting with frequent movement across campus.
May require standing, walking, lifting, and pushing carts for extended periods.
